Job description
Overview

Draw to Write Workshop for Writers Block & Ideas. Deadline: 24 November 2025 at 21:00. Discover how drawing can free up your words. An evening of playful visual + writing exercises to spark ideas and overcome blocks. Open to all writers. Online class. 24th Nov 7-9pm.

What we'll do
  • The session combines short drawing and writing exercises with time for reflection and discussion.
  • Bring a short poem or up to a page of prose you're working on - ideally something you feel stuck with or want to see from a new angle.
  • If you don't have a piece in progress, don't worry - I'll provide prompts to get you started.
  • You'll need some sheets of paper or a sketchbook (A4 size) and a few drawing tools - pens, pencils, markers, anything you enjoy using.
What to expect

We'll begin with guided automatic drawing exercises, inspired by the Surrealists - artists like Hilma af Klint, André Masson, and Joan Miró - as well as some of my own works. You'll respond to your drawings through writing tasks designed to open up your imagination and connect your visual intuition with language. By the end, you'll have practical techniques you can use whenever you feel blocked or need to reconnect with your creative flow.

Who it's for

This workshop is for anyone curious about new ways to support and deepen their writing practice. It's open to writers of all levels, and to visual artists interested in exploring writing for the first time. Absolutely no drawing experience required - just curiosity and a willingness to play.
