Job summary

The Education Network is seeking a Drama / Music Teacher for a full-time, long-term temporary role at an Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in Birmingham, commencing September 2026.

Salary £175–£250 per day. You will deliver drama and music to KS3/KS4, plan and assess lessons, support GCSE preparation, and contribute to productions and enrichment activities.

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an entry-level teacher (ECT) welcome.
• Experience teaching drama and/or music across KS3 and KS4.
• Confidence delivering both practical and theoretical curriculum elements.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
• Commitment to supporting student progress and attainment.
• Passion for performing arts and inspiring young people through creative learning.
• Willingness to contribute to extracurricular performances and enrichment activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality drama and music lessons across KS3/KS4, covering practical performance, composition, devising, script analysis, rehearsal techniques and musical appreciation.
• Assess student progress, provide feedback and foster an inclusive environment for creative expression.
• Prepare learners for GCSE Drama and/or Music where applicable.
• Contribute to school productions, concerts, performances and extracurricular clubs.
• Collaborate with the Performing Arts department and support professional development activities.

Role

The successful candidate will deliver engaging drama and music lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, inspiring confidence, creativity and performance skills. Responsibilities include:

• Plan and deliver high‑quality lessons across drama and music, covering practical performance, composition, devising, script analysis, rehearsal techniques and musical appreciation.
• Assess student progress, provide feedback and create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages creative expression.
• Prepare learners for GCSE Drama and/or Music qualifications where applicable.
• Contribute to school productions, concerts, performances and extracurricular clubs, supporting the wider cultural life of the school.
• Collaborate with the Performing Arts department, and support professional development and enrichment activities.

Candidate Requirements
