Job summary

Metro Rod Birmingham is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead the technical delivery of commercial drainage works. This role combines hands-on site presence with office support, reviewing CCTV surveys, advising engineers, assessing requirements and overseeing works to successful completion.

You will meet clients on site, identify the most appropriate solutions, prepare accurate quotations, plan labour and equipment, and ensure safety, quality and service standards across the business.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in commercial drainage.
• Knowledge of reactive drainage and maintenance.
• Experience with CCTV surveying and reporting.
• Ability to price and quote drainage works.
• Strong health and safety focus.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support to office and field engineers.
• Review CCTV drainage footage, surveys and reports.
• Prepare clear survey findings and recommendations.
• Attend commercial sites to assess drainage issues and scope works.
• Meet clients to discuss findings and solutions.
• Prepare detailed, commercially sound quotations.
• Plan labour, equipment and methods for each job.
• Oversee complex, high-value works on site.
• Support engineers with fault diagnosis and guidance.
• Monitor work quality and safety compliance.
• Maintain standards of service and customer care.
• Develop engineering team's technical capability.
• Collaborate with management to improve delivery.
