Job summary

AZTRUM in Cardiff is seeking a Drainage Infrastructure Engineer/Team Lead to guide civil engineering design across a varied infrastructure portfolio, with a focus on Sustainable Urban Drainage and surface water design.

You will lead a team, provide technical guidance, manage resources, and coordinate with regulators such as NRW and the Environment Agency to ensure compliant outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in surface and foul water design and/or construction to applicable standards.
• Civil Engineering degree required, Master’s preferred.
• Chartered status with ICE or CIWEM, or near completion.
• Strong 3D design and modelling skills using listed tools.
• Experience with water authority approvals and SuDS processes.
• Awareness of national planning policy and flood risk design.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of civil engineering design across infrastructure projects.
• Manage and support a team of engineers, providing guidance and planning resources.
• Balance multiple projects and maintain client relationships.
• Liaise with Natural Resources Wales and Environment Agency.

Drainage Infrastructure Engineer/Team Lead

£55,000 - £65,000

Cardiff

An established, people-focused engineering consultancy is looking for a bright, enthusiastic and open-minded engineer to help lead its Drainage Infrastructure team in Cardiff. Working alongside an Associate Director in a friendly, dynamic team, the successful candidate will play a key role in leading the delivery of civil engineering design on a varied portfolio of infrastructure projects, with a focus on Sustainable Urban Drainage (SuDS) and conventional surface water drainage design.

What you’ll be doing

• Helping to lead the delivery of civil engineering design across a range of challenging infrastructure projects
• Managing and supporting a team of engineers at varying levels of experience, providing technical guidance and planning resources
• Balancing multiple projects at once, prioritising tasks and deliverables to keep clients happy
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with statutory bodies such as Natural Resources Wales and the Environment Agency
• Guiding projects through water authority and SuDS Approval Body processes

Experience and qualifications

• Experience in surface and foul water design and/or construction, working to Sewers for Adoption and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
• A Civil Engineering degree, ideally at master’s level
• Chartered status with ICE or CIWEM, or close to completing it
• Strong 3D design and modelling skills using tools such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, Civils 3D and Autodesk ICM
• Experience with water authority statutory approvals (such as S104 and S106) and SuDS Approval Body processes
• Awareness of national planning policy and infrastructure design requirements relating to flood risk management
