Job summary

The Lanes Group plc is seeking a motivated Drainage Assistant for their Wellingborough Depot. In this permanent full-time role, you will support experienced engineers in conducting drainage system surveys while learning to assess conditions and identify defects.

This position offers a salary between £12.50 - £16.35, enhanced overtime rates, and other benefits like training and a pension scheme. A strong interest in drainage and hands-on experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points).
• Strong interest in drainage, utilities, or civil engineering.
• Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers about scheduled works.
• Assist in identifying drainage issues.
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment.
• Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance.
• Support CCTV inspections for underground pipes.
• Assist in emergency response for flooding.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Drainage Assistant to join our team working out of our Wellingborough Depot. You'll be working alongside experienced engineers to carry out surveys of drainage systems, learning how to assess conditions, identify defects, and support maintenance and repair strategies. This is a Permanent full time role,

About the Role:

• Monday to Friday Days 47.5 hours per week
• Monday to Friday Nights 47.5 hours per week
• 4 on 4 off Nights
• Salary: £12.50 - £16.35 dependent on experience and shift

As a Drainage Assistant, you will:

• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns.
• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress.
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework.
• Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
• Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision.

About you:
