A Personal Assistant is required to support a lady with learning disabilities in engaging activities that relieve social isolation, handling routine paperwork, responding to letters, meal planning, budgeting, etc. Support encourages a more active routine, including community trips to interact with friends and family. Car use is essential and working hours are flexible but a routine is important. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme to enable the client to manage their support independently.
The appointment includes a one‑month trial period and a probationary period of up to six months. Salary will be paid in arrears on a four‑weekly basis, once a valid National Insurance number has been provided. The applicant must be eligible to work in the UK and will undergo document checks before commencement. The role includes statutory entitlements and annual leave as set out in the contract. A Personal Assistants Handbook will be issued on commencement, and mandatory training may be required at the employer’s discretion (cost covered by the direct payment). A successful DBS check is required at no cost to the applicant, and if the applicant has an existing online DBS update the employer may be shortlisted more quickly. Two satisfactory references are required if requested by the employer.
