Overview

Job title: Personal Assistant

Hours of work: Up to 4 hours per week

Rate of pay: £12.60 per hour

I am a young person who requires supervision to participate in social activities, engage with peers, and to allow a parent time to herself.

I am a lively young person who requires a lot of supervision, and I may display challenging behaviour. It is essential that the PA has experience in dealing with these situations and can provide a familiar, supportive presence. I will need help developing routines and activities that are familiar and engaging.

I enjoy swimming, going to the beach, visiting the park, and attending the Sgiliau Play Centre. I would also like to attend after-school clubs. At home I enjoy playing video games, listening to music, being creative, and baking in the kitchen.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal assistance to help the young person participate in social activities and engage with peers, enabling the parent to have time to themselves.
  • Provide supervision, particularly when out of the house, and manage challenging behaviour as required.
  • Help the young person develop familiar routines and engaging activities.
  • Support attendance at swimming, the beach, the park, the Sgiliau Play Centre, and after-school clubs.
  • Assist with in-home activities such as playing video games, listening to music, baking, and other creative activities.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Experience dealing with challenging behaviour and the ability to supervise in a calm, supportive manner.
  • Familiarity with developing routines and engaging activities for a young person.
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory training identified as relevant to this post.
  • This appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will be at no cost to the applicant. If an online update DBS service is used, it can aid recruitment; updates can be made at https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service.
  • Two satisfactory references may be requested.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and pre-employment document checks.
  • Trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
  • Wages paid in arrears on a 4-week basis once a valid National Insurance number is provided.
  • Annual leave entitlement and other statutory entitlements; contract will set out details. A Personal Assistants Handbook will be issued on commencement.
