Door & Shutter Engineer

Location: Reading, Berkshire (and surrounding areas)

Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum (DOE) + Overtime + Company Van + Benefits

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Door & Shutter Engineer to join our growing team based in Reading. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of industrial doors, roller shutters, automatic doors, and sectional doors across a variety of commercial and industrial sites. You’ll be working both independently and as part of a team to ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, service, and repair industrial doors, roller shutters, and automatic doors.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Conduct planned preventive maintenance (PPM) visits and emergency call-outs.
  • Complete job sheets and reports accurately and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service on‑site and maintain a professional approach.
  • Participate in an on‑call rota for emergency breakdowns (when required).
Requirements
  • Proven experience working as a Door Engineer or Shutter Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial, commercial, and automatic door systems.
  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • CSCS, IPAF, or PASMA certification (desirable).
  • ADSA, DHF, or equivalent door qualifications (advantageous).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
