Job summary

The National Archives is seeking a Philanthropy Officer to develop income from donors and foundations, with a focus on expanding fundraising and engagement. The role sits within the Philanthropy team and collaborates across departments to secure multi-year funding and support strategic priorities.

You will manage donor portfolios, draft proposals, and coordinate events, while maintaining precise donor records and ensuring compliant reporting. Hybrid working and regular travel to Kew are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level education or equivalent experience in arts/culture fundraising.
• Experience in fundraising with trusts, foundations, or individuals.
• Strong time management with multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Excellent IT skills with MS Office and CRM databases.
• Interest in arts, culture and heritage.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and manage a portfolio of donors to secure funding.
• Identify prospects, manage funding opportunities, and keep calendars.
• Collaborate to develop funding proposals aligned with strategy.
• Plan and deliver cultivation events and private tours for prospects.
• Prepare stewardship communications and donor reports.
• Maintain accurate donor records in CRM and monitor funded projects.
• Coordinate with The National Archives Trust and Grant Development team.
