Domestic Service Manager

The Domestic Service Manager is responsible for providing efficient and effective leadership and management to the facilities service's teams (Trust Domestic Services and the Food and Beverage ward-based Teams) to enable the delivery of a high-quality service to our patients, visitors and staff.

To directly manage the zone management team which consists of Assistant Domestic Service Manager and Domestic Services Supervisor on a daily basis to ensure delivery of an efficient and effective, value for money, customer focused ward based environmental decontamination, general cleaning and ward-based nutrition and hydration service.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the delivery of an efficient and effective environmental (cleaning) and food and beverage (catering) service provision within a specified area (Zone).

Responsible for the effective planning of operational systems to ensure the workforce is flexible and efficient to meet the needs of the service e.g staff rosters, work schedules, work instructions and internal processes and procedures.

To ensure working practices adhere to the National Standards of Cleanliness 2021, and in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness 2021 be responsible for the efficacy standards/audits within responsibility area/zone.

Have an awareness of the NHS Food Review (October 2020) recommendations and contribute to the implementation of programmes as necessary.

Assist in the development and review of policy and standard operating procedures for cleaning and catering services and assist in their implementation.

Qualifications
  • 1st Degree or equivalent combination of training, short courses and experience
  • Food Safety Level 3
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Formal training on Microsoft packages or equivalent experience
  • Food Safety Level 4

  • Previous experience of staff management/supervision
  • Ability to prioritise workload and deal with competing priorities in a busy working environment
  • Proven ability to problem solve, analyse and manage change in a complex organisation
  • Experience of supporting the implementation of strategy and policy in a complex organisation
