Job summary

St Mary's Care Group in Adel Square, Leeds, is seeking a Domestic/Laundry Assistant to help keep our home clean, comfortable and well-presented for residents.

You will handle laundry and general cleaning, support infection control, and work a 26.5-hour week including some evenings and weekends. We value warmth, reliability and a compassionate approach to supporting older people.

Qualifications

• Organised, reliable and good at planning.
• Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high cleanliness standards across the home.
• Launder clothes, linens and towels using appropriate equipment.

• Assist with cleaning designated areas including bedrooms and communal spaces.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Domestic/Laundry Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by:

To maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises and ensure the efficient laundering of clothes, linens, and other washable items. The role contributes to a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Laundry Duties

• Collect, sort, and wash laundry items (e.g., clothing, bed linen, towels).
• Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing/pressing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Fold, iron, and store laundered items appropriately.
• Label or identify personal laundry if required.
• Ensure infection control procedures are followed.
• Report any faulty laundry equipment or maintenance issues.

Domestic/Cleaning Duties

• Clean designated areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and kitchens.
• Vacuum, dust, mop, disinfect surfaces, and remove rubbish as needed.
• Refill supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
• Follow cleaning schedules and procedures in accordance with hygiene and safety standards.
• Notify supervisor of any hazards or repairs needed in the premises.
