Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is recruiting for domestic cleaning roles on a 15-hour weekend shift and a 37.5-hour weekday shift. The Trust operates 7 days a week, including bank holidays.

This is a domestic cleaning role, not clinical care, with duties across wards, departments, and public areas. Responsibilities include cleaning to schedules, infection control deep cleans, PPE usage, and maintaining stocked, organized areas.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out daily duties as instructed by the Domestic Supervisor.
• General / routine cleaning of wards, clinical and non-clinical departments / offices, communal areas, public areas and toilets in line with local cleaning schedules.
• Assisting in infection control deep cleans as directed by Domestic Supervisors or Domestics Manager.
• Ensuring PPE is used in line with patient door signs.
• Using cleaning materials as mandated (one cloth, one mop per patient room).
• Keeping designated cleaning cupboard and trolley clean, stocked, and organized.
• Cleaning equipment thoroughly and sterilised after use to minimise infections.
• Carrying out cleaning per local frequency schedules and procedures.
• Assisting with corrective actions from auditing cleanliness and patient environment.
• Ensuring safe methods of work with focus on patients, staff and visitors.

Job description

1 x weekend position 15hrs per week. 8am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday

1 x weekday days 37.5hrs per week . 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday

As we are a healthcare organisation that is open 7 days per week, the successful candidates will be expected to work on bank holidays, including Christmas.

Please note that this is a domestic cleaning role and not a nursing assistant role.

Main duties of the job

• Carrying out daily duties as instructed by the Domestic Supervisor.
• General / routine cleaning of wards, clinical and non-clinical departments / offices, communal areas, public areas and toilets in line with the local cleaning schedules as designated.
• Assisting in any infection control deep cleans as directed by Domestic Supervisors or Domestics Manager.
• Ensuring that all barrier nursing and infection related PPE is fully utilised in line with the displayed signs on patient doors.
• Ensuring that all cleaning materials are used in accordance with mandated facilities processes (e.g. one cloth and one mop per patient room).
• Ensuring that your designated cleaning cupboard and cleaning trolley is kept clean, is fully stocked to the agreed levels and is well organised at all times.
• Ensuring that all designated cleaning equipment in your area is thoroughly cleaned and appropriately sterilised after use in order to minimise the spread of infections. This should include replaceable parts (e.g. filters in vacuum cleaners, floor pads on the buffer and scrubber drier machines).
• Carrying out cleaning in accordance with the local frequency schedules and procedures.
• Assisting with any corrective actions that may be identified as part of the frequent auditing of cleanliness and the patient environment.
• Ensuring that correct and safe methods of work are employed at all times with extra care shown to the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
