The Domestic Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitising patient areas, communal spaces, and restrooms, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Domestic Assistants also assist with the proper disposal of waste, restocking supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues to ensure that the facility operates smoothly. Their work directly contributes to patient comfort and safety, making it an essential position within the healthcare team.
Strong attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently under pressure, and effective communication skills are vital for success in this role.
To clean all areas/wards/departments effectively in accordance with the areas risk rating and frequencies specified.
Clean infected room/areas on the ward in line with the Terminal Clean Policy.
Change curtains in line with the curtain programme or as required for Terminal and deep clean processes.
Carry out all cleaning duties to the required National specification for Cleanliness (NSC) and ensure all operational documentations are filled in appropriately.
Respond to cleaning incidents/emergency as required by line management.
Carry out standard clean to ensure all daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks are completed as scheduled by management.
