Sainsburys Tech seeks a Domain Architect to shape and drive the technology strategy for our Supply Chain domain across brands. You will align engineering, product, and architecture, delivering scalable, future‑proof solutions and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

The role emphasizes collaboration, standards, and a modern software engineering environment with Agile, XP practices, and opportunities in AI applications.

Qualifications

• Experience creating a technology strategy or north star at an enterprise level or large segment.
• Solid understanding of retail and the functionality of Supply Chain domain.
• Experience in Supply Chain, identifying dependencies and driving design decisions.
• Strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders.
• Deliver technology transformation via architecture artefacts with value.
• Experience evolving architectures and modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Heads of Engineering and Product to define the technology direction for a significant area of the business.
• Drive the creation of the north star and technology strategy for Supply Chain systems.
• Ensure technical decisions align with principles and standards.
• Communicate and champion the technology strategy across teams.
• Work with a wider team migrating legacy systems to modern platforms.
• Understand dependencies and produce designs aligned to the strategic vision.
• Collaborate with the architecture community to promote alignment on initiatives.
• Maintain accurate data about your domain.
• Scan the external environment for innovative perspectives.
• Influence decision-making at all levels through clear communication.

Salary: £44,000 - 84,000 per year

Requirements

• Previous experience creating a technology strategy or setting a north star at an enterprise level or for a large segment of an enterprise.
• Solid understanding of retail and the key functionality that would make up our Supply Chain domain.
• Experience working in the Supply Chain domain, identifying dependencies and driving activities to reach key design decisions.
• Strong track record of influencing stakeholders at director or senior management level.
• Track record of delivering technology transformation through influential architecture artefacts such as designs, decision records, and transitional architectures, with demonstrated value added.
• Previous experience with Supply Chain and the ability to manage impact, identify key decisions, and drive change.
• Strong background in developing and implementing domain-level roadmaps and strategies.
• Deep understanding of technology principles and standards.
• Experience in evolving architectures, modern engineering practices, and business capability modelling.
• Skilled communicator with the ability to condense complex technology choices into clear decisions and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and strong planning skills to navigate a rapidly evolving tech industry.
