Job summary

A local pet services company in Rawtenstall is looking for a Dog Grooming Apprentice. The role involves hands-on grooming duties, customer service, and working with various breeds of dogs. All necessary training will be provided on-site. The successful candidate will have the potential for full-time employment upon completion of the apprenticeship. This apprenticeship lasts 12 months and includes gaining relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to work towards gaining maths and English Functional Skills qualification if required.

Responsibilities

• Washing dogs and preparing them for grooming.
• Blow drying dogs after washing.
• Clipping nails of dogs as required.
• Grooming dogs to desired styles.
• Looking for signs of ill health in dogs.
• Providing excellent customer service.

Level 4/c GCSE or above in maths and English

Job description

Overview

This role will require the successful applicant to work with all breeds of dogs, both big and small. As the apprentice you will be required to work in all aspects of the salon and the on-site pet shop too!

Working Days

The role involves working on Saturdays and one day during the week with 1 hour unpaid lunch break. Additional hours may be available during our busiest periods, such as over Christmas.

Training

All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Qualifications

A level 4/c GCSE or above in maths and English is desirable but not essential. You must be willing to work towards gaining your maths and English Functional Skills qualification if required.

Skills Required

No specific skills are required as all training will be given.

Prospects

Upon successful completion of the Level 2 Dog Grooming apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity for full time employment for the right candidate.
