Job description
Job Purpose

To work within the Community Paediatric Team to understand and assess the health needs of children and young people who are looked after, including those with a plan for adoption. The role focuses on initial health assessments for children in care and contributes to developmental assessments across Cambridgeshire.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Undertake statutory looked after children health assessments, including those with complex healthcare needs.
  • Formulate comprehensive, individual health care plans.
  • Identify and lead relevant audits of service provision, including multi‑agency audits in collaboration with other professionals.
  • Support wider community paediatric work across Cambridgeshire, depending on service needs and applicant expertise.
Communication

Good communication skills to allow effective teamwork with clinical and non‑clinical staff in health, education and social care.

Human Resources & Professional Development

Maintain personal professional development, participate in appraisal and KSF processes, undertake mandatory training and other relevant training as required.

Clinical Governance & Information Security

Adhere to confidentiality, data protection, Trust information governance and security policies, risk assessment processes and infection control policies. Participation in clinical and other audits, emergency preparedness processes, and observation of patient safety standards are required.

Requirements
  • Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and responsible for maintaining registration.
  • Experience or demonstrable interest in paediatrics and children in care assessments.
  • Healthy evidence of interest and expertise in children in care assessments and care. Suitable for a paediatrician, GP, or any medical professional with an interest/expertise in children in care.
  • Ability to work flexible working patterns if accommodated by the service.
  • Willingness to participate in audits, training, and emergency preparedness.
