Job summary

The University of Cambridge invites applications for the Dobson Professorship of Materials Science and Metallurgy, to start in 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter, based in Cambridge. The professorship includes a permanent endowment to support a world‑leading research group in energy materials and materials discovery.

Candidates will hold a PhD or equivalent and have an outstanding international research record.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification required.
• Outstanding international research record in energy materials and materials discovery.
• Experience leading interdisciplinary collaborations across Department, School and wider University.

Responsibilities

• Establish an ambitious research programme and build a world‑leading group.
• Provide intellectual leadership and oversee teaching, examining, supervision and administration.
