Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Limited is seeking a Django Developer with active SC clearance to lead secure Django-based applications and infrastructure in a hybrid Canary Wharf setting. You will drive secure coding, API standards and automated testing, while guiding others through deployment and production support.

The role focuses on hands-on leadership, RBAC design, CI/CD, IaC and security documentation for assurance processes within a government project, with a day rate of £700-£850 Inside IR35.

Django Developer (SC Cleared)

£700-£850 per day | Inside IR35 |

Hybrid (Canary Wharf - 1 day per week)

Contract until September 2026 + potential extension

Morgan Hunt are working in partnership with a leading UK government organisation to recruit an experienced Django Developer with active SC clearance.

The Role

To provide hands-on technical leadership for the design, build, productionisation and ongoing operation of secure Django-based applications and supporting infrastructure. The role will establish the development processes, coding standards, API standards, security approach, RBAC model and application architecture needed for repeatable delivery. The developer will bring extensive experience in productionising and securing Django applications, embedding automated testing, CI/CD and agile development practices, and creating documentation to support Technical Design Authority (TDA), security assurance and operational handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, development and deployment of secure Django applications and associated infrastructure in Azure.
• Define and embed Django development processes, coding standards, API standards, review practices and secure engineering patterns.
• Design and guide implementation of RBAC, permissions, authentication, authorisation and secure application access models.
• Set up and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated quality controls, infrastructure-as-code and deployment practices.
• Establish repeatable automated testing approaches across unit, integration, functional and regression testing.
• Produce and assure technical documentation for TDA, security assurance, onboarding and ongoing operations.
• Collaborate with cloud architecture, security, DevOps, delivery and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet internal standards.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, coaching and guidance to other Django developers through design, build, test, deployment and production support.

Experience Required

• Extensive experience developing, deploying and productionising Django applications in live environments.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Python, Django, Django templates, API development and secure web application architecture.
• Experience defining engineering standards, development processes, API standards and secure coding practices.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), infrastructure-as-code and automated testing approaches.
• Demonstrable ability to create technical, architecture and security documentation for assurance processes.
• Solid understanding of security best practices, RBAC, data protection and operational readiness in cloud environments.
• Experience with end-to-end software development lifecycle and agile delivery practices.

Additional Details

• Day rate: £700-£800 (Inside IR35)
• Contract until end of September 2026, with likely extension
• Hybrid working - 1 day per week on-site in Canary Wharf
• Active SC clearance is essential (must have worked on a UK government project within the last 12 months)
