Clinical & Professional Leadership
Provide strong, visible professional leadership within the Division.
Provide guidance, support and professional leadership to nursing staff within the Division.
Provide guidance, support and nursing expertise across the Division to support integrated commissioning and the provision of evidence-based care, joint funding pathways and quality and performance functions.
Ensure the continuous improvement of patient outcomes and experiences, focussing specifically on:
Monitor clinical standards and ensure that any remedial actions are identified and implemented.
Provide Senior Nurse Leadership presence throughout the organisation promoting multi-disciplinary working.
Provide clinical supervision and leadership to the Clinical Commissioning Manager for CYP with Complex Needs.
Assist in capacity management when Trust is at level 3 or 4, participating in Silver Command as directed and participate in Managers on Call rota.
Quality, Clinical Governance and Risk Management
Lead, manage and monitor the implementation of Trust wide corporate priorities as agreed with the Director of Integration and Chief Nurse.
Develop opportunities for individuals and teams to network and share excellence in practice, learning and professional nursing.
Provide expert senior nursing advice to ensure that the best use of available resources is made ensuring the Trust delivers safe, effective and efficient care.
Ensure that the Nursing and Service Leads are efficiently and effectively monitoring standards, challenging suboptimum practices and ensuring improvements are being delivered against a range of nurse sensitive indicators.
Fully participate in Back to the Floor to visually assess standards of care, support newly qualified nurses and students on placement.
Contribute to the clinical governance agenda, taking the lead where necessary to ensure that learning is identified and improvements in processes are implemented.
Support the Nursing and Service Leads in the maintenance of an optimal environment for patient care with particular emphasis on:
Support Nursing and Service Leads in the regular reviews of incidents, complaints, risk assessments and other multidisciplinary audits, ensuring that triangulation of information is carried out and followed up to address and reduce risk and that learning is disseminated.
Chair Nursing Divisional Governance meetings to monitor Quality Indicators, address issues and share best practice.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults working in accordance with statutory guidance and local policies and procedures.
Be available to respond to patients, relatives and the public maintaining open and honest communication channels.
Work to ensure that patient care remains a priority and that the wider benefits of the patient population remain a top priority.
Support the development of patient experience objectives incorporating national and local goals and ideas and Trust strategic objectives to ensure that patients views are captured and used to inform service improvement and redesign.
Ensure that the role of patient views and feedback is a priority in the improvement of care and services.
Support and develop Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) initiatives.
Obtain feedback from CYP and families to assess the quality and effectiveness of services and identify changes to improve quality and outcomes.
Coproduce processes and systems with CYP, parents, carers and stakeholders, with the voice and experience of families at the centre, ensuring all necessary consultation is undertaken.
Business Planning, Commissioning and Financial Management
Contribute to the development of an effective and viable business plan for the Division, to ensure that it reflects the Trust business objectives.
Advise and support the management of capacity, to ensure that risks to clinical care are mitigated and that patient care and safety is maintained.
Contribute to the development and delivery of cost improvement programmes and income generation initiatives.
Be responsible for budgets allocated to the areas of responsibility ensuring efficiency and effective use of resources, which will include ensuring all direct reports understand and are supported in their budgetary responsibilities.
To ensure that the Black Country Integrated Commissioning Board (BCICB) fulfils its responsibilities mandated in the NHS Continuing Care framework, working closely with the BCICB Quality Leads to agree and delver actions in relation to poor provider performance.
Human Resources Management
Ensure there is a comprehensive and consistent line management approach for teams of registered and support staff for all nursing groups.
Lead and support recruitment retention and redesign activities in order to maximise utilisation of skills and knowledge and reduce vacancies and the use of temporary staff.
Lead, manage, motivate staff and to create a climate characterised by high standards of openness transparency and patient centred.
Promote and ensure the contributions and perspectives of all clinical and other staff are heard, valued and influence leadership decision making.
Line manage any direct reports in line with the Trusts HR policies and procedures, providing annual appraisal and clinical supervision.
Work with operational professional and workforce colleagues to develop local workforce plans, employee engagement and workforce to ensure delivery of the Trusts People Plan.
Ensure that staff management arrangements are consistent with HR policies and procedures within the Trust and to ensure that good practice in recruitment, appraisal, performance management and other policies are maintained throughout spheres of responsibility.
In partnership with the Chief of Primary Care/Deputy Director of Operations /Professional Lead for AHPs and Clinical Support Services, to ensure the structure and skill mix reflects the activity demands and to implement skill mix, staff deployment/changes as appropriate to meet the changing needs of patients within the agreed budgeted establishment.
Promote equal opportunities for staff and patients increasing opportunities across all the protected characteristics in line with Trust policies and procedures.

Maintain effective NMC registration and comply with revalidation standards.
Identify personal development needs and to accept responsibility for own personal professional development as agreed with the Director of Integration/Chief Nurse.
