Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of prescription requests for the entitled population, liaising effectively with all relevant personnel. Any other dispensary administrative tasks and patient communications as directed by the Dispensary Lead.

Duties can include, but are not limited to, the processing of repeat prescriptions in electronic and hard copy format, including online requests. In addition, the post holder will be required to support the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the objectives of the organisation are met.

Job responsibilities

Receivingrepeat prescription requests from patients via paper copy, telephone, email andonline patient access and ensuring processed in timely manner

Communicatingeffectively and helping with patient queries at the Dispensary and answeringphone calls from patients.

Actingon any clinical & administration tasks that are sent to the dispensary andphoning patients when asked to with the information or advice from the PracticeTeam.

Maintainingstock levels of FP10s, stationary (including patient forms from NHS businessservices), dispensing bags/bottles etc. and liaising with the dispensary leadto facilitate reordering.

Collectingprescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol.

Receivingand storing supplies of medication in accordance with dispensary StandardOperating Procedures ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable.

Safedisposal of returned medication ensuring that any returned controlled drugs aredealt with according to dispensary protocol.

Coordinationof courier boxes for daily site delivery

Toprovide a delivery service to our local branch surgeries, post office andhousebound patients

Maintaininga clean and safe working environment at all times.

Maintainan accurate record at all times of patient requests by adding to patentsmedical records where appropriate and ensuring an audit trail is available forfuture reference.

Maintaineffective security of the dispensary at all times.

Anyother tasks delegated by the Dispensary Lead & Practice Operations Manager.

Attendand participate in any Practice Meetings and Training Events.

Completeannually the Mandatory Training Modules assigned to your job role, and anyother training identified in appraisals.

Activelyencourage patients to reconcile medications to facilitate monthly collections.

Actupon compliance issues, liaising with the appropriate clinician.

Effectivelyliaise with external services, i.e., district nurses, to ensure prescriptionsare arranged for housebound patients when required.

Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary

Supportthe PCN pharmacist, prescribing GP's and dispensary lead when required to do so

Partakein audit as directed by the lead when required

Complete opening andclosing procedures in accordance with the team rota
