Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is seeking a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor in Sunderland. The role is hybrid, combining home working with assessment centre visits, and focuses on clinical reasoning, analysis and detailed report writing.

Ideal candidates are NMC- or HCPC-registered professionals with UK clinical experience and strong communication skills. The role offers structured hours, training and progression opportunities, plus a supportive hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Paramedic or Occupational Therapist.
• Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions.
• Minimum 1 year's UK clinical experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident use of digital systems (35 WPM typing speed).
• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available).
• Experience in functional assessment or advisory roles.
• Confidence in producing high-quality written clinical reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct face-to-face and telephone PIP assessments in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Analyse medical evidence and clinical information.
• Produce accurate, detailed and evidence-based written reports.
• Work to defined quality standards and clinical frameworks.
• Engage positively with feedback and development opportunities.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative colleagues.
• Attend the assessment centre as required.

Are you an NMC-registered Nurse or HCPC-registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist ready for a change from front line clinical work, but keen to continue using your expertise?

As a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor at Medacs Healthcare, you'll complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) functional assessments to understand how health conditions affect everyday life. This is a non-hands-on clinical role centred on clinical reasoning, analysis and report writing.

The hybrid working model combines home working with time at one of our assessment centres, offering predictable hours, long-term stability and a healthier work-life balance.

What you'll do
