We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, POM Product Management Manager, to join our BNY Payments Enablement Enterprise Platform team. This role is located in Manchester, United Kingdom.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

The Product Manager will lead the Inquiry Management Group. The Inquiry Management Group sits within the BNY Payments Enablement Enterprise Platform, responsible for managing and resolving transactional inquiries across the payment’s lifecycle. Its scope spans operational support, client experience enhancement, and platform resiliency, with a focus on enabling seamless, compliant, and efficient inquiries resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Ownership & Vision

  • Define and execute product vision aligned with platform OKRs and enterprise priorities.
  • Translate complex business problems into actionable and measurable outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate across Business, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Client Services to define business problems and translate them into actionable outcomes (initiatives/epics/stories).
  • Lead cross-functional discussions to ensure alignment and clarity of group goals.

Backlog & Delivery Leadership

  • Own and manage product backlogs, balancing feature delivery, technical debt, and resiliency.
  • Lead PI planning for the group and oversee front-to-back delivery of the group’s capabilities, including active participation in pods’ sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives in partnership with RTE, Scrum Leads and development teams.

Risk & Compliance Management

  • Own and manage risks originating from capabilities delivered.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal controls.

Performance Monitoring

  • Use data-driven insights to monitor group’s pods performance and drive continuous improvement.

Team Enablement

  • Provide day-to-day direction to Product Owners and ensure alignment across multiple pod-level backlogs.

Client Experience

  • Focus on enhancing client experience through seamless inquiry resolution.
  • Ability to design and refine channels for receiving, processing, and resolving clients inquiries.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent.
  • Vast experience in transaction banking, with a number of years as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst role.
  • Proven experience working on payment processing, including inquiry management.
Domain Expertise
  • Understanding of end-to-end payment lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of payment rails: wires, ACH, instant payments, and emerging networks.
  • Strong understanding of payment infrastructures and market utilities (e.g., SWIFT, CHIPS, Fedwire, SEPA, RTP, CHAPS, TARGET2, EPN, FED ACH, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of payment investigation workflows, including exceptions handling, returns, repairs, and claims.
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022 and legacy MT messaging standards.
  • Experience with cross-border payments and correspondent banking.
  • Awareness of regulatory frameworks such as AML, FATF, sanctions screening, PSD2, and the Travel Rule.
Agile Ceremonies & Practices
  • Deep understanding of Agile ceremonies: PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives.
  • Proficiency in backlog grooming, decomposition, and prioritization techniques.
User Story Mastery
  • Ability to write and refine epics and user stories.
  • Translate requirements into clear, testable acceptance criteria.
  • Break down complex stories into manageable tasks.
Tools & Frameworks
  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, and SAFe frameworks.
Collaboration & Coaching
  • Effective collaborator, bridging gaps between tech and business.
  • Comfortable with real-world PO scenarios and decision-making under ambiguity.
Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work cross-functionally across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to analyze trends and use data to inform product decisions and drive operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Excel, and data visualization tools.
Soft Skills & Other Qualities
  • Strong communication and documentation skills — able to translate complex payment processes into business and technical requirements.
  • High attention to detail, especially in compliance- and risk-sensitive environments.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
  • Comfortable working in a global, cross-functional team and across different time zones.
