We are seeking an experienced Director of Platform Product Manager to lead the next generation of our audio video learning platform.
Position Summary
The Director, Platform Product Manager (PPM) is a strategic role reporting to the Chief Product Officer. You will define the vision and roadmap for shared platform services powering Panopto VCMS and the Elai AI video solution. You will drive scalability, performance, and security across the product suite and assist the CPO with evaluating technology integration partnerships and product reviews for M&A opportunities.
How You’ll Contribute
In this role, you will:
- Enable Platform Enhancements & Execution
- Build the Learning Platform Roadmap: Define, prioritize, and manage roadmap commitments for all shared components, including but not limited to:
- AI-enabled services and capabilities as platform components
- Authentication and Authorization (SSO, identity management)
- Core APIs and microservices used by product teams
- Data storage, analytics, and data-sharing services
- Infrastructure scalability, reliability, and performance improvements
- Security and compliance features across the platform
- Drive Architectural Alignment: Work with Engineering leadership to ensure shared platform services meet needs, promote reuse, and maintain technical consistency
- Define Success: Establish and monitor KPIs for platform health, adoption, and performance
- Internal Voice of the Learning Platform: Champion platform capabilities, trade-offs, and future vision to internal stakeholders
- Strategic Partnerships & Corporate Development
- Engage with Customers: Collaborate with Product and Customer Experience to participate in Customer Councils and Advisor Boards to feed roadmap and market research
- Technology Integration Partnerships: Help identify, evaluate, and prioritize technology partners to enhance Panopto’s ecosystem
- M&A Review and Due Diligence: Support technical and product reviews of potential M&A targets, assessing technology stack, integration complexity, and value alignment
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 8+ years in Product Management, with at least 3 years focused on B2B SaaS platforms, API products, or platform services
- Technical Acumen: Ability to understand complex architectures and cloud technologies; able to discuss design trade-offs with engineers
- Strategic Thinking: Translate business goals into a prioritized platform execution plan
- Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication to influence cross-functional teams
- Experience in a fast-growing, private equity-backed environment is advantageous
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related technical field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI Services and Platforms: Familiarity with integrating platform services for AI/ML deployment, APIs, or GenAI
- Exceptional Communication & Presentation Skills: Ability to articulate platform strategies to engineers, PMs, and executives; capable of writing detailed specifications and delivering presentations
- Experience in EdTech or L&D: Product management in higher education or corporate Learning & Development, especially with VCMS or enterprise content solutions
- Partnership Experience: Evaluating and managing technology partnerships; involvement in technical due diligence for M&A is a plus
- M&A/Integration Lifecycle: Experience in post-merger integration of acquired products into a unified platform
- Security/Compliance Understanding: Familiarity with enterprise standards such as GDPR, FERPA, SOC 2
Compensation & Benefits
$140,000 - $150,000 per year. This position is eligible for a bonus; base pay may vary by location and experience. Total Rewards include benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and time away from work. Panopto emphasizes pay equity and transparency in compensation ranges.
