Job summary

Salford City Council is seeking a visible and ambitious Director to lead adult social care. You will shape strategy, drive performance and deliver high-quality care and support for people across learning disability, older people’s services, supported living and mental health.

You'll lead a major transformation programme, with political awareness, strong leadership, and a relentless focus on outcomes, to create services that local people can trust in Salford.

Qualifications

• Visible leader with a proven track record of steering large-scale social care change.
• Experience in political and regulatory contexts with fiscal stewardship.
• Ability to shape culture and deliver outcomes in a complex public sector setting.

Job description

Adult social care in Salford is entering a defining chapter. Following a landmark decision by the City Council, the whole of adult social care is returning to council leadership – creating a unique opportunity to redesign, improve and strengthen how care and support is delivered across our city. This is one of the most significant transformation programmes currently underway in local government. Our ambition goes beyond organisational change. You will lead a portfolio that spans learning disability, older people’s services, supported living and mental health provision. You will be accountable for service delivery, quality, workforce, finance, transformation, regulatory readiness and continuous improvement. You will play a critical role in shaping culture, improving performance and ensuring the highest standards of care and support.
