A high-growth, global fintech organisation are seeking a Director of Payment Solutions . This is a senior leadership role within their Solutions & Implementations function, responsible for driving the strategy, performance, and technical excellence of their global partner ecosystem, including acquirers, banks, alternative payment providers, and local payment services.

The ideal candidate combines deep payments expertise with strong technical leadership and a proven ability to build, scale, and inspire high-performing solution teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic thinker who can blend product, technology, and partner management into world‑class payment experiences.

About the Role

The Director of Payment Solutions will define and execute the organisation’s strategy for partner integrations, ensuring best-in-class payment flows and technical product quality. Working closely with Solution Architects, Analysts, Product, Engineering, and senior external partners, this leader will own performance metrics, partner relationships, and the technical roadmap required to optimise and expand global payment capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Product Direction
  • Define the technical and product strategy for global payment partner integrations, ensuring alignment with business and client needs.
2. Partner & Performance Ownership
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key payment partners; own KPIs, contribution, and optimisation plans across the partner ecosystem.
3. Technical Excellence & Implementation Quality
  • Oversee best-practice implementations across payment flows, risk / chargeback management, onboarding, authentication, APIs, and reporting capabilities.
4. Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and mentor Solution Architects and Analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and deep technical expertise.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, Risk, and Compliance to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs and solutions.
Key Requirements
1. Payments Industry Expertise
  • 10+ years in the payments space with deep knowledge of acquirers, PSPs, sponsor banks, and alternative payment methods.
2. Technical Leadership Background
  • 6+ years of experience in partner / product implementation or engineering roles, with strong understanding of APIs, tokenization, reconciliation, and payment flows.
3. Proven Leadership Record
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role, managing global teams of architects, analysts, or engineers.
4. Product & Technology Depth
  • Experience with SaaS technologies, SDKs, APIs, web applications (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and modern integration frameworks.
5. Commercial & Strategic Acumen
  • Demonstrated ownership of partner KPIs, optimisation initiatives, or P&L-related performance; excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

This role can be based in the UK or Amsterdam, with some travel required to both locations.
