Director, Global Special Credit Unit - Risk and Compliance

We are seeking to appoint an experienced individual who will report to the Head of Global Special Credit Unit (GSCU) as a GCB4 Director.

You will provide executive support to the Head of GSCU in ensuring SCU meets the challenges emanating from any deteriorating economic conditions across economies worldwide by:

  • Sponsoring and implementing the policies and approach within FIM B18.2.2 "SCU Involvement" and the GSCU RACI
  • Establishing and ensuring a globally consistent operating model
  • Acting a sponsor for transformation initiatives
  • Acting as a subject matter expert by providing support and guidance in the management of distressed names
  • Providing oversight, analysis and continuous monitoring through reporting and governance across Regional SCU sites
  • Assess and manage costs across Regional SCU sites.
In this role, you will:
  • Operate as an alternate in the absence of the Head of GSCU and/or Senior Director, GSCU
  • Act as lead coordinator for transformation programmes within SCU or that require SCU engagement
  • Facilitate/Chair GSCU committees and forums
  • Operate as the primary responder to SCU subject matter expert enquiries emanating from SCU Regions and other HSBC Group stakeholders
  • Prepare policy papers and reports when required
  • Manage the GSCU governance and oversight regime
  • Analyse and review GSCU performance data and elevate recommendations to the Head of GSCU and/or Senior Director, GSCU.
To be successful in this role you should have the following skills and experience:
  • The role holder must be able to work without close supervision and progress job responsibilities independently.
  • Self-motivated confident decision maker with an ability to positively influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal communication and influencing skills
  • Analysis, interpretation and report writing
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Risk/credit analysis experience, ideally within a turnaround/workout environment.

The base location for this role is London – Hybrid working
