The intention and primary accountability of this role is to unlock that value, utilizing and exploiting technology and data in our investment process to enhance our ability to deliver superior long term investment results to our investors and intermediaries.

The Director, Engineering; Global Technology, will drive the engineering discipline for the Global Technology organization at Capital (more than 4,000 associate and vendor partner engineers), including establishing unified engineering standards, practices, KPIs, leading the development and adoption of AI-centric SDLC process, driving quality, resiliency and reliability of our systems, improvements of the developer experience, driving efficiency, and workforce and skills strategy. Further, this role will play a leadership role in the Data Excellence Platform (DXP) program, helping Capital to establish a successful federated data model.

The goal is to deliver best‑in‑class engineering workforce at Capital that can successfully enable our business outcomes, evolve with changing business needs, and help us achieve our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and lead an organization of 30+ associate engineers and vendor partners.
  • Chair the Software Engineering Operating and Standards Committee (SE OSC), lead a cross‑Global Technology group of engineering leaders to drive progress across the following key areas:
    • Consistency in Software Development / Unified Standards, Practices, and KPIs
    • Maintain the SDLC standard for Capital
    • Transition to AI‑centric Engineering Process
    • Quality, Reliability, Resiliency, Operational Monitoring
    • Developer Experience
    • Efficiency and Operating Smartly
    • Tech Taxonomy
  • Workforce and Skills Strategy
  • Closely partner with leaders, engineers, product managers, and others across the Global Technology organization, Enterprise Data Office (EDO), and Citizen Developers on business teams to achieve outcomes established by the SE OSC.
  • Lead the Operating Model workstream of the Data Excellence Program (DxP)
  • Lead efforts on establishing the new data operating model
  • Partner with the Enterprise Data Office (EDO), members of the DxP Operating Committee (DxP OC), Enterprise Change management Office (ECO), and Global Technology Organization to drive the creation of operating model, advocate for the model changes, and drive adoption of the new model.
  • Drive the training and establishment of Data Creators at Capital, and in the Global Technology Organization.
  • Present operating model changes to the DxP OC for review and approval.
  • Foster high engagement, innovation, and a culture of continuous learning, developing skills of the future to create a world‑class Global Technology engineering organization. Articulate a vision that can inspire our technology teams and business stakeholders alike.
  • Help to foster the culture of strong engineering, innovation, sharing, and operational excellence.
  • Bring the most up‑to‑date thinking on new technologies that can enhance business experience.

Qualifications
  • You have a proven track record of leading a strategic engineering function for a large, critical division, influencing a broader technology organization, helping to set standards and define technology operating model.
  • You have strong technical aptitude and experience of architecting and engineering a wide variety of solutions, including globally distributed and highly scalable systems and services, and the ability to both build in‑house and integrate vendor solutions.
  • You have a strong track record of operational excellence.
  • You have experience in investment management and capital markets – business functions, financial instruments, investment research, portfolio management, trading, investment processing and systems and technologies that support them.
  • You drive business value, based on awareness of the financial services regulatory environment to help enable compliance and risk management through effective use of data.
  • You are flexible and have a proven track record of delivering all types of outcomes – foundational technology, business enablement and business differentiation.
  • You have program leadership experience and the ability to shape and drive large‑scale, cross‑functional, multi‑level programs around people, technology, processes, and tools–balancing long‑term strategy with quick wins.
  • You are an inspirational senior leader committed to championing and inspiring others to understand technology and data as strategic business assets that drive significant growth opportunities across the enterprise.

Southern California Base Salary Range : $254,648-$432,902

New York Base Salary Range : $269,961-$458,934
