The opportunity
Technology Consulting is a fast‑growing service line focused on providing high‑value independent, trusted advice to clients on digital and technology‑led transformation programmes.
The Technology Transformation service line works with clients to create value and deliver world‑class digital and IT capabilities to support business needs. Working closely with our industry groups and leveraging the EY brand, we deliver a range of services including:
- CIO/CTO Advisory
- Technology strategy & execution
- Emerging technology horizon scanning
- Capability building & operations
This leadership role guides clients through their digital and tech‑led transformation journey, focusing on envisioning, solutioning and implementing design‑centric digital tech products. You will engage with client teams, provide business perspective, and work closely with service‑line leadership to build capabilities.
Your key responsibilities
- Become a trusted advisor for leading Defence sector clients, identifying, shaping and planning their digital transformation journey.
- Define the transition to a digitally‑enabled, smart, and sustainable utility organization, establish the business case and document the overall roadmap.
- Guide critical digital engineering decisions, technologies, platforms, engineering practices and the service model to drive a business‑led digital transformation.
- Advise on designing and establishing a state‑of‑the‑art digital engineering function.
- Integrate digital engineering into organizations with traditional IT functions.
- Collaborate with EY groups to pursue and deliver end‑to‑end digital engagements, supporting practice development and engagement delivery.
- Lead as a thought leader on state‑of‑the‑art digital technology trends and emerging design‑engineering patterns, representing EY at conferences and forums.
- Build a profitable practice and establish EY’s image nationally in high‑end Technology Transformation Consulting.
- Identify and capitalize on business‑development opportunities in existing and new clients.
- Manage people development and practice management.
- Build long‑term relationships with key client decision‑makers and act as a trusted advisor.
- Lead multiple engagements profitably and identify inefficiencies to prevent recurrence.
- Plan for significant changes, enlist requisite expertise, and manage knowledge and intellectual‑capital policies.
- Support ongoing engagements, upsell, and pursue new opportunities, leading pursuit teams and presenting solutions to clients.
- Provide thought leadership and subject expertise in engagement delivery and client expectation management.
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role you must have
- Substantial relevant experience, preferably with a Big‑4 or top technology consulting organisation.
- Proven track record of successful delivery of large engagements in Digital Transformation and Technology Transformation.
- Experience delivering digital products and customer platform implementation, including solution architecture, engineering, testing and deployment.
- Leadership experience in a digital engineering practice.
- Strong understanding of designing and building leading digital engineering capabilities.
- People‑management experience with large teams and solid client relationship and account‑management skills.
- Comfort dealing with CXO‑level executives across all functions of a customer’s enterprise.
- Excellent technical skills, ability to originate deals and anticipate future strategic needs of clients.
- Strong influence, persuasion, credibility, trust‑building and client‑relationship skills.
- Networking ability across EY, driving account and industry agenda in a collaborative matrix environment.
- Team‑building and coaching experience to achieve business objectives.
- Strategic leadership with decision‑making, planning and organisational skills.
- Experience collaborating with directors/partners to align business strategies with company strategies.
