Director - Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC)

Location: West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year – Permanent

Salary: £60,603 - £66,726 per annum (Dependent on qualifications and experience)

J oin Eastern Education Group as the Director of the Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC) and lead the development and growth of a major regional initiative designed to meet the skills demands of critical infrastructure and housing projects across the East of England. This flexible opportunity offers strategic leadership to shape an employer-led model of technical education that accelerates training, enhances inclusion, and creates clear progression routes into highly skilled, sustainable careers.

  • Lead the design, implementation, and quality assurance of innovative provision spanning pre-employment, apprenticeships, and continuing professional development.
  • Embed competence management and Building Regulations principles throughout the provision.
  • Secure and manage diverse funding streams to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Construction Technical Excellence College.
  • Establish strong partnerships with employers, professional bodies, and training providers to deliver high-quality, industry-aligned programmes.

The role requires strategic leadership with the ability to influence at all levels, combining vision with operational credibility to drive collaboration, inclusion, and measurable impact. This is a flagship initiative intended to transform the region’s technical education landscape and strengthen the future workforce.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the CTEC project.

  • Build and sustain partnerships with employers, professional bodies, and training providers.
  • Ensure compliance with industry frameworks, including Building Regulations, and embed competence management.
  • Identify and secure diverse funding to support long-term sustainability and growth.
