The role

We are currently recruiting a Building Services Director to grow our team in Cambridge.

With the support of the practice, the Building Services Director will be responsible for leading the building services design team in Cambridge with a strong focus on project delivery, client relationship / management, and business development. The applicant should ensure they promote the wider business skills and invest in the shared agenda, with special focus on the IW ethos and values.

The Building Services Director will provide expertise in the field of Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering, be a conduit for our internal and external clients and manage and market the team in liaison with the Partners.

Please Note: This role may be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service, Baseline Personnel Security Standard, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check, or Developed Vetting clearance.

The selected candidate will
Manage and lead the Cambridge team
  • Carry out regular performance management reviews including identification of training needs to match future requirements of the Practice and its clients.
  • Provide technical expertise to other engineers/designers and ensure technical competence through continual professional development.
  • Advise partners on resources required, carrying out interviews and developing the team through training, mentoring and personal development.
Operate within and promote IW Business Systems
  • Advise partners on resources required, carrying out interviews and developing the team through training, mentoring and personal development.
  • Assist the Partners in pursuing the business strategy by ensuring all the Practice Management systems are operating within the team including timesheets, invoicing, and expenditure.
Marketing and business development
  • Take full responsibility for the project opportunities of the Cambridge Building Services Team.
  • Develop the client base of Ingleton Wood by being proactive in pursuing marketing opportunities via existing and new contacts and relationships.,
  • Work within wider Ingleton Wood marketing initiatives as directed.
Deliver Quality
  • Ensure designs and specifications are checked and meet the highest level of accuracy and quality.
  • Have a wide understanding of the construction industry (Building Typology, Contracts, Frameworks etc) and understand other disciplines to facilitate the delivery of a multi-disciplinary service.
Think Commercially
  • Generate fee income for the team by building new and managing existing client relationships to achieve this.
  • Manage and monitor fee performance of the team against established targets in addition to individual projects financial performance.
Essential skills, experience, and attributes
  • Excellent financial control and awareness of projections, targets and pipeline management.
  • Proved Business Development track record
  • Ideally would have completed degree in appropriate discipline. MSc Building Services and CEng status through CIBSE or IMechE.
  • Must have a full clean driving license and access to own transport.
  • Comprehensive and demonstrable CPD in appropriate subjects
