Job Description

Do you want to be at the forefront of Building Services excellence and lead MEP and multi‑discipline teams across world‑class projects across our buildings and infrastructure portfolio? Join our Southampton multidisciplinary team as a Director (Electrical) and set technical direction, lead project delivery across large multi‑disciplinary schemes, and contribute to regional and UK Industrial and Infrastructure Facilities Service line strategy.

Working across infrastructure facilities projects such as major airports, railways, ports and data centres can be a rewarding career path, offering opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and impact on society.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor and develop an established and stable electrical Building Services team; act as a role model for junior staff and a manager of managers where required.
  • Protect and develop the quality of our electrical designs and provide technical and pastoral mentoring locally and nationally; set technical direction on projects and/or for the department.
  • Hold Project Manager or Project Owner responsibility on large, complex MEP or multidisciplinary projects, taking accountability for day‑to‑day project performance and ensuring adherence to the Ramboll Project Model and project governance.

  • Lead business development in the region and contribute to UK‑level work winning; prepare high‑quality fee proposals, lead project interviews, maintain and grow client relationships and a network of industry contacts.
  • Champion digital delivery, innovation and automation: embed digital engineering skills into project delivery and work with the Ramboll Engineering Centre (REC) to drive technical quality and project innovation.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and project risks; communicate recurring risks, issues and lessons learned regionally and nationally via our UK Technical Council.

  • Proven track record of leading and delivering large, complex electrical or multidisciplinary MEP projects and portfolios, with evidence of successful project outcomes at regional or national scale.
  • Strong commercial awareness and demonstrable experience preparing financial reports, negotiating scope/variations, preparing fee proposals and managing project profitability.
  • Demonstrable business development experience: independently contributes to work winning, maintains a network of client contacts and can demonstrate a track record of winning work.
  • Technical leadership capability with an appetite for innovation, digital engineering and automation in design delivery; able to embed digital delivery skills across the project portfolio and work with REC.
  • Experienced people leader: coaching, mentoring and managing teams; able to set departmental direction aligned to UK Business Plan and support staff development and succession planning.
  • Strong communicator able to present complex engineering concepts to non‑technical audiences and senior clients.
  • Commitment to sustainability and ability to embed sustainable design thinking into projects.
Benefits
  • Investment in your development and leadership support guided by Ramboll Leadership Principles.
  • Opportunity to shape technical direction and influence the UK I&IF Service line strategy.
  • Hybrid and flexible working, 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, matched pension contributions, private medical cover and life assurance.
  • The long‑term thinking of a foundation‑owned company and an inclusive, values‑driven culture.
