Job summary

Macmillan Publishers International Ltd is seeking a Tax Accountant (Direct Taxes) to ensure direct tax compliance, reporting and advisory functions. You will support the Senior Tax Director across 14 entities and act as a technical pillar within a small UK tax team.

This role suits a Corporate or Mixed Tax professional, in-house or in practice, looking to deepen knowledge of international tax while delivering accurate tax provision, TP, and HMRC engagements.

Qualifications

• Qualified to ACA/ACCA or CTA.
• 3+ years in professional services and at least 2 years in-house.
• Strong data manipulation and tax technology skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage corporate tax returns and year-end/quarterly provisions.
• Oversee Transfer Pricing reporting and Local File liaison with German HQ.
• Advise on employment taxes, withholding taxes and stamp taxes.
• Maintain SAO risk and control matrices and HMRC correspondence.
• Contribute to tax planning (capital structure, loss utilization) and international assignments.
• Collaborate with UK Shared Services, Finance Directors, HR, Legal and international tax teams.
