Job summary

Sky News is seeking an overnight Digital Video Producer to deliver fast, accurate video for our digital platforms, covering breaking news and premium content. You will produce, edit, and publish videos using Rio, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or Avid, identify story angles, ensure media-law compliance, and collaborate with the newsroom team to stay on the frontline.

Based at Osterley, four shifts per week, you must have a recognised journalism qualification and a proven track record in digital

Qualifications

• Proven experience in producing, editing, and publishing videos for digital platforms.
• Exceptional news judgment with ability to identify and pitch viral/trending stories.
• Understanding of media law to ensure compliance in all video content.

Responsibilities

• Produce and edit video content for digital platforms using industry software.
• Identify and pitch stories/creative treatments for premium storytelling.
• Ensure compliance with media law (OF COM, copyright, defamation, etc.).

Whatyou’lldo:

• Produce and Edit Video Content : Using software such asRio,Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Avid or Quantel, create, edit, and publish videos for digital platforms, ensuring fast andaccuratedelivery of breaking news and premium content.

• Identifyand Pitch Stories/Creative Treatments :Have ideas around creative treatments we could use for our premium story-telling and angles for storieswe’renot covering.

• Ensure Compliance with Media Law : Apply comprehensive knowledge of media law (OFCOM, copyright, defamation etc) to all video content produced, ensuring legal compliance.

• Collaborate with Newsroom Team : Work closely with the newsroom team to stay on the frontline of news production,leveragingexceptional news judgment and journalistic skills.

Essential criteria:

• Proven Experience in Video Production :Demonstratedtrack recordin producing, editing, and publishing videos, particularly for digital platforms. Experience in delivering fast andaccuratevideo content for breaking news and premium content is essential.

• Exceptional News Judgment : Passion and understanding for UK and global news, backed by the ability toidentifyand pitch viral and trending stories. Strong understanding of how to source and clear material for video production.

• Understanding of Media Law : Comprehensive knowledge of media law to ensure compliance in all video content produced.

• Recognised Journalism Qualification : Possession of a recognised qualification in journalism,indicatinga solid foundation in journalistic principles and practices.
