A leading broadcasting company seeks an experienced multimedia journalist to create engaging social media and digital video content. This role involves utilizing social listening tools to identify stories, creating high-impact content across platforms, and self-shooting/editing videos. The position is hybrid, based in the North East and Cumbria.

Location: Newcastle, Middlesbrough, or Carlisle (hybrid working)
Proposed Salary Range: £27,600 – £33,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

We are looking for an experienced multimedia journalist to create social media and digital video content for the BBC in the North East and Cumbria. Our social media platforms are vital in helping us to reach and connect with people who dont get their local news from broadcast media. This role involves turning news stories etc into engaging social content for Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok link posts graphics carousel posts stories explainers reels as well as digital video for the BBC News website.
We are looking for someone with a flair for digital storytelling who is able to come up with a constant supply of original news stories, self‑shoot and edit them for use across multiple platforms. You’ll work closely with the wider teams in digital TV and audio across the North East and Cumbria.
Discovering stories through social listening is a key part of this job and we are looking for someone who is comfortable sifting through social media and using tools to find stories that will appeal to the BBCs lightest users. You’ll know how to turn daily radio and TV content into engaging social formats and you’ll be just as happy creating original digital content using your own skills and experience.
