Job description

Who are we?

Look at the latest headlines and you will see something Ki insures. Think space shuttles, world tours, wind farms, and even footballers’ legs.

Ki’s mission is simple. Digitally disrupt and revolutionise a 335-year-old market. Working with Google and UCL, Ki has created a platform that uses algorithms, machine learning and large language models to give insurance brokers quotes in seconds, rather than days.

Ki is proudly the biggest global algorithmic insurance carrier. It is the fastest growing syndicate in the Lloyd's of London market, and the first ever to make $100m in profit in 3 years.

Ki’s teams have varied backgrounds and work together in an agile, cross-functional way to build the very best experience for its customers. Ki has big ambitions but needs more excellent minds to challenge the status-quo and help it reach new horizons.

Where you come in?

As our new Digital Underwriting Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our operations, providing a seamless and comprehensive administrative service. You'll deliver an outstanding level of support to our brokers, internal teams, and service providers, helping us simplify complex processes, move quickly, and continue to sharpen London's edge.

What you will be doing:

Underwriting
  • Underwriting e-placement – Check and bind risks on e-placement platforms
  • Underwriting referrals – Manage endorsements and required escalations to the portfolio management team when re-pricing is required
  • Client audits – Following up with brokers for premiums and renewals
  • Capacity – Establish and maintain knowledge of internal controls and all procedures relating to underwriting
  • Evaluation and control – Processing and checking of data entry onto relevant systems
  • Query management – Monitor and handle queries from the Ki platform or via telephone in relation to both underwriting and general queries; seeking advice where required
Operations
  • Maintain and monitor the flow of work between underwriting teams and the service provider to ensure items are addressed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Monitor and handle broker requests and queries via the Ki platform, including subjectivities of Ki’s quoted line, endorsements and claims
  • Identify and implement opportunities for streamlining underwriting activity, including increased automation or use of the service provider
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and User Guides accurately reflect current procedures
  • Help to facilitate and monitor any new activities that are transitioned out to the service provider
  • Assist with the investigation and resolution of any data quality issues that are raised by TPU and other support teams
  • Assist with the testing and roll out of new IT initiatives
Compliance
  • Triage sanctions-checking and raise relevant referrals to compliance (and identify potential areas to improve or increased automated-checking to reduce referrals)
  • Sample checking of electronically placed slips for compliance with pre-bind quality assurance (PBQA) and contract certainty standards
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory impact and ensure underwriting activity is always within the guidelines
  • Maintain the accuracy of all underwriting records and ensure quality of entries into Eclipse and other systems, as appropriate
  • Experience of working within the insurance industry (preferably Underwriting or Operations preferred)
  • Keen to identify and embrace new technologies and new ways of working
  • Commercial awareness, with a knowledge of the insurance market and external changes which would impact on our business
  • Willing to complete the ACII professional qualification
  • A commitment to continuous learning or equivalent practical experience
  • Excellent numeric, analytical, and written skills
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple channels
  • Effective prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
