Job summary

A leading health and employment services provider in the UK is seeking an experienced trainer to deliver accredited and non-accredited training to adults in various subjects. The role involves assessing learner needs, developing personalized learning plans, and maintaining accurate records. Candidates must have a Level 3 teaching qualification and experience in adult learning. The position requires flexibility to travel to multiple sites including Huddersfield, Bradford, and Leeds. Competitive salary of £28,800‑£33,800 offered.

Job Overview

To assess learner needs/skills through pre‑course assessments, develop a learning plan with SMART goals to address barriers and skill gaps. Deliver personalized, accredited/non‑accredited interventions with embedded personal/social development to help prepare learners for further learning, employment, and improved confidence. This role covers onsite delivery in Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield – your base location will depend on where you live with travel to the other sites. Salary £28,800‑£33,800.

Key Contacts & Relationships
  • Internal: work as a key member of the team, continuous contact with all operational colleagues, contact at times with representatives within other Maximus operating divisions (e.g. Central Division).
  • External: Employers, agencies and other stakeholders (e.g. Local Authorities, WYCA, DWP/JCP, NCS).
Pre‑course Assessments and Planning
  • Administer screeners, initial and diagnostics assessments for each learner, develop and maintain tailored ILPs (inc. action plans) with SMART targets.
  • Plan lessons effectively and ensure activities are innovative and differentiated towards individual learners.
  • Provide learner support, review, implement and evaluate throughout the learner’s journey.
Training Delivery
  • Deliver accredited and/or non‑accredited training programmes to adults (19+) in disciplines such as English, Maths, Digital, Customer Service, Business Administration, Hospitality, Warehousing & Logistics, Health and Social Care.
  • Train, assess, motivate, mentor and support learners, developing personal and social skills.
  • Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Develop resources and bespoke materials to meet learner and employer needs.
  • Embed Maths, English, Digital, Soft Skills, PDBA themes (prevent / safeguarding) into delivery as required.
  • Provide additional support for learners with SEND, ESOL.
Supporting Learners
  • Undertake regular reviews with learners to ensure engagement and progress.
  • Maintain accurate learner records electronically and hard copy for audit.
  • Use MIS to track progress and address trends (caseload management).
Quality Assurance & Professional Development
  • Contribute to development and monitoring of key documents, policies and procedures.
  • Implement improvements from performance reviews and internal QA.
  • Participate in standardisation, team meetings, CPD activities.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and networking; engage in self‑reflection.
  • Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
  • Comply with Maximus policies and statutory responsibilities.
Travel Requirements
  • Full driving licence and vehicle ownership desirable.

Minimum Requirements
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 3 teaching qualification (PTTLS or equivalent) and relevant subject‑specific qualifications.
  • English and Maths to at least Functional Skills level 2.
  • Desirable: CTTLS, Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement, Level 4 Award in the Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice.
  • Experience with online learning platforms and motivational strategies.
  • Proven experience in adult or work‑based learning and funded employability programmes.
  • IT literate in Microsoft Office 365 and modern digital technologies.
  • Track record of managing and supporting learners face‑to‑face and remotely.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage caseloads, meet retention and achievement targets, and focus on quality and customers.
