Job summary

A leading insurance firm in Chichester is seeking a motivated Digital Trading Underwriter to join their Underwriting Delivery Team. You will assess risks, gather necessary information for underwriting decisions, and support team initiatives in a flexible capacity. The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of digital trading insurance products and experience with Acturis, alongside strong communication and analytical skills.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Digital Trading Underwriter to join our Underwriting Delivery Team (UDT). As part of the UDT, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the team with their day‑to‑day tasks. You'll be responsible for monitoring and triaging incoming referrals, assessing risks and gathering additional information as necessary to make decisions within agreed authority limits. The ideal candidate will possess good knowledge of the ZM Digital Trading insurance products and services with experience underwriting the associated risks on Acturis. A passion for customer service and a keen interest in developing their underwriting skills. This role will be challenging but incredibly rewarding. You will be joining an experienced team where your development is key, and support will be given all the way. This role is available part‑time, job‑share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren't available full‑time.

Responsibilities
  • Triage the UDT mailbox, requesting additional information where necessary and allocate tasks to team members.
  • Assess underwriting referrals from our Digital Trading Underwriters and make empowerment decisions within your agreed authority levels, escalating as appropriate.
  • Update systems in line with business requirements; i.e. Gleam, TDC, ZMID, etc.
  • Support with the creation and delivery of new starter and general underwriting training.
  • Undertake the investigation work required for any ad‑hoc initiatives or projects concerning the ZM Digital Trading products/services and support with the delivery of these projects/initiatives.
  • Ensure areas for improvement are identified, with actions tracked and monitored through to resolution.
  • Demonstrate continued self‑development – working with a mentor within the team to progress your Underwriting authority.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
  • Underwriting experience preferred.
  • An understanding of ZM Digital Trading Products/Services and experience using Acturis is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy – maintain high standards in all tasks.
  • Confidence to question and challenge the status quo.
  • Proactive and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workloads.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and embrace new challenges.
  • Cert or DiP CII Qualified or actively working towards accreditation.
