Job Description:
Associate Director, Digital Tax

We're a team of independent thinkers who put quality, inclusion and integrity first. All around the world we bring a different experience to our clients. A better experience. One that delivers the expertise they need in a way that goes beyond. Personal, proactive and agile. That's Grant Thornton.

New ground won't break itself

Every day our teams help people in businesses and communities to do what is right and achieve their goals.

Our Tax business is investing in digital to stay ahead in a fast-changing industry. This role will help shape and deliver that digital strategy. You will work closely with Engineering, Product and the Data Office to turn strategic priorities into products, platforms and data capabilities that make a measurable difference to our people and our clients.

We're happy to talk flexible working and consider reduced hours and job shares. We'll support you to balance your work and life.

A look into the role

As an Associate Director supporting our Digital Strategy, you will:

  • Support the development and delivery of the digital strategy for Tax, turning priorities into a clear roadmap with business cases and measurable outcomes.

  • Work with Engineering, Product and the Data Office to translate strategy into delivered products, platforms and data capabilities.

  • Act as the link between tax service lines and technical teams, shaping requirements and prioritising work by value, risk and feasibility.

  • Oversee the delivery of strategic initiatives across multiple workstreams, ensuring they land on time, within budget and against agreed KPIs and success metrics.

  • Prepare and maintain business cases, benefits tracking and governance reporting for senior leaders and investment decisions.

  • Work with the Data Office on data strategy, quality, ownership and platform choices, so that data supports the products we build and the decisions we make.

  • Engage partners and service line leaders to understand their challenges, build support for change and drive adoption.

  • Track and assess emerging technology, including AI and automation, and recommend where it should be applied.

  • Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the wider digital community.

Knowing you're right for us

Joining us as an Associate Director, the minimum criteria you'll need are:

  • Experience shaping or delivering digital or technology strategy in professional services, tax or a similarly complex environment.

  • A track record of delivering technology-enabled change, working alongside engineering and product teams.

  • A working understanding of data platforms, data governance and how data underpins products and decision making.

  • A working understanding of the Microsoft technology stack and Anthropic tools, and how they are applied to automation and AI.

  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver through others without direct line management.

It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don't worry if you don't tick every box. We'll help you develop along the way.

  • Experience in product management or agile delivery.

  • Experience building business cases and tracking benefits for technology investment.

  • A professional accounting or tax qualification, or experience in a tax technology or in-house tax setting.

Beyond the job

Life is more than work. The things you do, and the people you're with outside of work matter. That's why we're happy to look at flexible working options for all our roles, and we'll always do our best to keep your work and life in balance.

The impact you can make here will go far beyond your day job. From secondments, to fundraising for local charities, or investing in entrepreneurs in the developing world, you'll be giving back to society.
