About The Role

We're seeking a skilled and innovative Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to join our team at our Gloucester site. This exciting role will involve working on advanced Research & Development (R&D), software-defined radio (SDR) systems, and payload development for a variety of Defence, Cyber, and Intelligence programmes. If you have experience in reverse engineering and a strong background in DSP, this is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge projects and further develop your expertise.

At Lockheed Martin, we provide our engineers with meaningful work, professional development opportunities, and a healthy work-life balance. We offer flexible working hours, hybrid work options where possible, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support both your professional and personal growth.

As a DSP Engineer, you will be at the forefront of innovation, applying your expertise to reverse engineer existing systems, develop new DSP algorithms, and design and integrate SDR platforms. You will also play a pivotal role in payload development and contribute to the continuous improvement of mission-critical technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reverse Engineering & Analysis – Hardware, software, and signals based reverse engineering of RF systems: identify vulnerabilities or areas for improvement.
  • Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Development – Develop and optimize SDR solutions using cutting‑edge DSP techniques for various applications in communications and signal processing.
  • R&D and Algorithm Development – Design and develop new DSP algorithms to enhance the performance of SDR systems, focusing on signal detection, classification, and exploitation.
  • Payload Development – Contribute to the development of payloads for advanced communications systems, ensuring compatibility with both existing and future technologies.
  • Testing and Validation – Work closely with testing teams to validate and optimize system performance through laboratory testing, real‑world experimentation, and field trials.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration – Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware and software engineers, to integrate DSP solutions into larger mission systems.

If you are passionate about Digital Signal Processing, reverse engineering, and pushing the boundaries of software-defined radio technologies, we want to hear from you. Join our team and be part of a leading‑edge organization committed to creating innovative solutions for Defence, Cyber, and Intelligence applications.

Required Skills, Qualifications And Experience
  • Strong experience in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), including algorithm development and optimization.
  • Experience in reverse engineering RF systems and signal analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of software-defined radio (SDR) technologies and platforms.
  • Background in R&D for developing innovative solutions and cutting‑edge algorithms.
  • Proficiency with Python, C/C++, and/or other programming languages used in DSP and SDR development.
  • Knowledge of signal modulation/demodulation techniques and digital communication protocols.
  • Experience with real‑time testing and performance evaluation of RF systems.
Desired Skills
