Job summary

BDO UK is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Technology Risk and Governance practice in the North of England, based in Manchester or Leeds. You’ll advise key clients on technology risk, governance, and resilience, shaping engagements and helping organisations strengthen controls and assurance across complex programmes.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in technology risk, IT internal audit, IT assurance, risk and controls, at Senior Manager level or ready for it.
• Proven track record in winning and expanding client work through market relationships.
• Strong commercial judgement including shaping proposals, scoping and fees, and managing engagement economics.
• Broad technical credibility across technology risk and controls, with depth in one or more areas (e.g., ITGC, cloud, DevOps, ERP, data, AI governance).
• Experience leading multi-workstream engagements and communicating with executive and risk stakeholders.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop teams and drive sustainable growth.

As a Senior Manager in BDO Digital's Technology Risk and Governance team, you’ll play a leading role in growing and delivering our technology risk business across the North of England. Based in Manchester or Leeds, you’ll advise key clients on the risks arising from technology, transformation and digital change, helping them strengthen governance, resilience and confidence in the systems that underpin or protect their most important business processes and data.

It's a senior, market-facing role combining business development, client leadership, high-quality delivery and team stewardship. You’ll originate opportunities through your own relationships and work jointly with colleagues across the firm taking integrated propositions to market. In addition you’ll help shape the regional growth plan, lead and develop our people, and contribute to the continued development of the national Technology Risk and Governance practice.

You’ll be someone with:

• Substantial experience in technology risk, IT internal audit, IT assurance, risk and controls or a closely related discipline, including a strong track record at Senior Manager level or clear readiness to operate at that level.
• A demonstrable record of winning and expanding client work, supported by credible market relationships and the ability to originate opportunities both independently and through collaborative account and sector teams.
• Strong commercial judgement, including experience shaping proposals, negotiating scope and fees, managing engagement economics and maintaining appropriate quality and risk standards.
• Broad technical credibility across technology risk and controls, with depth in one or more areas such as IT general controls and SOX/ICFR, technology internal audit, cloud, DevOps and SDLC, ERP, operational resilience, third-party risk, data, programme assurance or AI governance.
• Experience leading complex, multi-workstream engagements and communicating confidently with executive, audit committee, risk and technology stakeholders.
• A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams, provide clear direction and constructive challenge, and build capability for sustainable growth.
• Relevant qualifications such as CISA, CISM, ACA, ACCA, CIA, CRISC, CISSP or cloud certifications are advantageous; equivalent senior-level experience and market credibility will also be considered.
