Job description

This position is hiring for TWO vacancies to be filled.

The Delivery Manager is a key role in the delivery of our digital strategy, delivering high-profile, complex digital projects and programmes using Agile project management methods (e.g. Scrum and Kanban). The role is crucial for creating and maintaining focus, enthusiasm and momentum for their defined project areas, working with all teams within the Trust and the ICB.

The postholder will be expected to manage project progress and expenditure, liaising with key stakeholders. This includes ensuring alignment with financial planning and the capital programme and the postholder will be expected to be a lead contributor in funding bids and support the development of business cases to exploit external funding opportunities. The role involves working closely with colleagues in varying roles and seniority across the Trust, including clinicians and executive directors as well as the ICB.

The postholder will be a specialist in Agile project management and be comfortable with delivering challenging data and information to various members of staff. The postholder will demonstrate excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, negotiation and facilitation skills to support their digital transformation programmes and successfully deliver in their areas of responsibility.

Build and maintain multi-disciplinary DDAT delivery teams, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating and working well, and focused on what is most important to delivery.

Coach and mentor both team members and others to apply the most appropriate Agile and Lean tools and techniques.

Use specialist knowledge, consultancy skills and experience to advise on DDAT solutions and guide staff on a course of action.

To develop, maintain and monitor plans for projects, tailoring the plans in accordance with the complexity of the project.

To develop business cases for securing project funding using experience to ensure that costs for all impacted departments and/or services are identified.

To follow Trust Standing Financial Instructions.

To manage the budget during the course of the project/s.

To use specialist knowledge for developing specifications (Output Based Specifications) where a need for an DDAT solution is identified. This will involve significant analytical work.

To develop appropriate communication plans and communicate at all levels within the organisation.

To facilitate or contribute to post implementation reviews.

To document the lessons learned from the implementations and communicate these to a wide range of staff (internal and external) either by presentation or formal report.

To use specialist knowledge to ensure that DDAT implementations are carried out in accordance with change management best practice.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
  • Educated to Masters Level or equivalent experience / qualifications
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Professional Scrum Master (PSM) I / AgilePM / Lean Six Sigma, or similar, or equivalent practical experience
  • Professional Scrum Master (PSM) II / Professional Agile Leadership or similar advanced project management qualification
  • Managing successful programmes (MSP) or ITIL certification
Experience
  • Practical experience of delivering digital projects, ideally in the NHS or wider UK public sector
  • Practical experience delivering projects using an Agile Scrum or Kanban methodology
  • Experience of managing a team
  • xperience of budget management and forecasting or familiarity with project budget management and processes
  • Experience of bringing together and managing people within a project management (matrix) structure
  • Experience of using Agile project management software (e.g. Jira, Trello, etc.)
  • Experience of working independently and in a team orientated collaborative environment
  • Experience of working in the NHS at senior manager level
  • Experience acting as the point of contact for contracted suppliers
  • Change management experience with the ability to take a lead business change specialist role in digital projects
  • Examples of leading on change management/service improvement within the NHS and/or social care
  • Examples of leading cross organisation team projects including senior clinical staff
