Overview

The Opportunity

We’re recruiting a Digital Content Editor (6/8 months contract) for a leading organisation in the higher education sector. This key role will shape the institution’s digital presence - ensuring its website and intranet deliver accurate, engaging, and accessible content that meets audience needs.

Reporting to the Head of Content, you’ll champion a user-first approach, using data and best practice to drive consistency, accessibility, and impact across all digital channels.

This will be a 6/8 months contract to begin with.

Key responsibilities
  • Editing and optimising content across the university’s website and intranet to ensure clarity, accuracy, and accessibility
  • Advising and mentoring colleagues on writing for the web, content governance, and SEO best practice
  • Using analytics and audience insights to identify content gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Championing digital accessibility and inclusive content design in line with WCAG 2.2 standards
  • Supporting the wider content community with training, templates, and editorial guidance
  • Auditing existing pages and helping content owners maintain a healthy content lifecycle
About you
  • Strong digital copywriting and editing experience
  • Confident using CMS platforms (e.g. Contensis, Sitecore, or Drupal)
  • Understanding of SEO, analytics tools (e.g. GA4, Siteimprove) and accessibility standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in higher education, public sector, or complex organisations desirable
