Pay rate: £19.32 to £21.14 per hour (PAYE, DOE).
Contract type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months.
Working arrangement: 3 days a week or equivalent hours, hybrid – expected to be in the office or out filming at least 50% of the week with 50% working from home.

Role Description
In order to apply for this role you will have a proven track record in leading on customer communications specifically digital, media, marketing and internal communications, ideally within a local authority or large public sector organisation. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where your ideas are valued, and your work makes a real impact across the county and the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver timely, audience-focused digital content.
- Provide strategic communications advice for key projects.
- Create engaging photo and video content aligned with key messages.
- Develop and manage campaign strategies supporting council objectives.
- Leverage national campaigns and local events for content opportunities.
- Advise senior leaders on communications and manage multiple projects.
- Mentor and supervise team members, supporting their professional growth.
- Use data and behavioural insights to shape and target communications.
- Engage with the public via social media in a professional, friendly way.
- Recommend and implement improvements to communication approaches.
- Protect and enhance the council’s reputation at all times.
- Evaluate campaigns and apply lessons learned for improvement.
- Explore income-generating opportunities for the team.
- Support crisis or emergency communications, including out-of-hours work.
- Participate in the communications on‑call rota.
What the Client Is Looking For
- Proven track record in leading on customer communications specifically digital, media, marketing and internal communications.
- Proven track record in successful campaign/project management.
- Proven track record of effective digital content generation including videography.
- Experience of finding positive solutions to complex customer communications challenges.
- Experience of working in a political environment including briefing elected members.
- Experience of mentoring/supervising junior staff.
- Proven experience of the preparation and presentation of controversial information to the public in an engaging and creative way.
