Job description

We are seeking two experienced Digital Clinical Safety Engineers to support digital transformation within a large NHS Trust in Lincolnshire. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major Electronic Patient Record (EPR) implementation and ensure the safe design, deployment, and use of digital systems across clinical settings. As part of the Trust's Digital Services team, you'll take a lead role in clinical risk management - applying both clinical and engineering thinking to ensure compliance with DCB0129 and DCB0160 standards, and helping shape how technology safely supports patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a Clinical Safety Officer for digital health programmes, including EPR systems.
  • Conduct clinical risk assessments, safety reviews, and audits for digital and clinical systems.
  • Maintain and review safety documentation, including CRMFs, CRMPs, Hazard Logs, and Clinical Safety Cases.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align safety and digital governance processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve digital clinical safety processes.
  • Support digital transformation programmes in line with NHS England's "What Good Looks Like" framework.
Qualifications
  • Registered healthcare professional (Nurse, Midwife, AHP, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, or Clinical Scientist) or background in clinical systems / safety engineering.
  • Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) training / NHS Digital Clinical Safety Accreditation.
  • Strong understanding of DCB0129 / DCB0160 and NHS digital governance.
  • Experience with EPR or health IT systems safety assessments.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Master's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of Cerner or Nervecentre EPR systems.
  • Experience with project management or systems assurance frameworks (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools.
