We have an exciting opportunity for for a newly qualified dietitian, or existing band 5 dietitian, who is seeking further experience working in a large teaching hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking team player to join our friendly and dynamic band 5 team, where you will have the opportunity to work with general medicine and community teams.
The Band 5 team have structured 6 monthly rotations where they can develop skills and experience across a wide range of clinical areas including elderly care, orthopaedics, surgery, gastroenterology, acute care, general medicine, cardiovascular and community. The rotations cover a mixture of inpatient areas, outpatient clinics, integrated community services, delivering talks to patients, staff and students in a supportive environment on which to build your dietetic career.
We are recruiting to 1.0 WTE Band 5 vacancy, but following interview, you may be added to a reserve list for future Band 5 Dietitian permanent positions which may become available at the trust. You are welcome to apply if you have previously been on the reserve list but were not offered a position.
The dietetic department are trialling a transparent interview process. If selected for interview, a proportion of questions will be shared with you 48 hours in advance to allow you to prepare. Additional unseen questions will be provided during the interview as usual. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire following the interview.
To work as part of the Band 5 Dietetic Team responsible for providing individualised dietetic advice to inpatients, outpatients, staff and carers across St Thomas’ Hospital and local communities of Lambeth and Southwark. The post may involve delivering group education sessions across acute and community settings.
We offer a well evaluated CPD programme with supervision from senior dietitians across a range of specialties including oncology, renal, gastroenterology, stroke, diabetes, HIV and paediatrics, and protected time for professional development. As such we are able to provide excellent learning opportunities and encourage professional development in the role. You will be provided with regular clinical supervision and regular 1:1s for support, empowering you to deliver high quality, safe and compassionate care.
You will be joining a team of over 100 dietitians and the department has excellent administrative support secretarial support from our administration team, and clinical support from dietetic assistants. We are a large training centre for student dietitians on placements 1, 2 and 3 and you will be actively involved with this. The department aims to provide a high quality service through evidence based practice and listening to acting on staff and patient feedback.
You must have or be in the process of applying for HCPC registration at the time of your application in order to be considered for interview. Successful applicants may be added to the reserve list following interview but will be required to provide evidence of HCPC registration and when provided, will then be considered for future roles.
