Band 7 Locum Advanced Dietitian - Gastroenterology

Contract Type: Locum

Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday (9am-5pm)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Dietitian (Gastroenterology) to join a friendly and forward-thinking dietetic team based on the South Coast.

You will act as the senior dietitian for gastroenterology, supporting a busy 24-bed ward and running gastro outpatient clinics.

The department provides a wide range of specialist services including oncology, head and neck cancer, home enteral feeding, paediatrics, diabetes, and more offering exposure to diverse clinical areas and professional development opportunities.

The successful candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to wider departmental projects, training, and service improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead dietetic input for gastroenterology inpatients and outpatients
  • Provide expert nutrition advice and care planning for complex cases
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and care reviews
  • Deliver staff training and patient education sessions
  • Support junior dietitians and student placements
  • Contribute to clinical audit, service development, and research initiatives
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics (or equivalent)
  • HCPC registration as a Dietitian
  • Proven experience in gastroenterology, including inpatient and outpatient care
  • Experience supervising students or junior staff
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and teamwork skills
  • Evidence of continued professional development
