Job summary

Fish Brothers Volkswagen Service Centre in Swindon is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician to join our VW Group service team. You will diagnose faults, service and repair vehicles across VW, Skoda, SEAT and CUPRA brands, using factory equipment and information.

We offer a £40,000 basic salary, generous holiday and pension matching, life assurance, Health Cash Plan and ongoing manufacturer training with the potential to progress toward Master Technician level.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Service & Repair or equivalent.
• Experience in diagnosing faults using diagnostic equipment is desired.
• Interest in progressing toward Master Technician level

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostic work to manufacturer standards.
• Identify and resolve more complex faults using diagnostic information.
• Road test and collaborate with workshop and Service Advisor team to ensure quality repairs.

This is a genuine Diagnostic Technician opportunity. Alongside servicing and repair work, you’ll be trusted to investigate faults, interpret diagnostic information and solve more complex technical issues.

From established petrol and diesel powertrains through to hybrid and fully electric vehicles, you’ll be working with a broad range of Volkswagen Group technology.

What you’ll be doing

As a Diagnostic Technician, you’ll carry out servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostic work to manufacturer standards, with particular responsibility for identifying and resolving more complex faults.

You’ll use diagnostic equipment and technical information to investigate vehicle issues, carry out road testing and fault analysis where required, and work closely with the wider workshop and Service Advisor team to ensure repairs are completed accurately and efficiently.

Just as importantly, you’ll bring a methodical approach to problem solving and take pride in getting the diagnosis right.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need to hold an NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Service & Repair or equivalent, with strong technical and diagnostic experience.

Previous Volkswagen Group experience would be a real advantage, particularly if you already have experience with Volkswagen, Skoda, SEAT, CUPRA or Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. However, we’re also interested in hearing from experienced Diagnostic Technicians from other manufacturer backgrounds who have the technical ability and enthusiasm to develop their Volkswagen Group knowledge.

You’ll be someone who enjoys problem solving, works well as part of a workshop team and wants to continue developing their technical career.
