Based mainly at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, you will also have the opportunity to rotate through our newly established Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Hollinswood House, giving you exposure to a variety of settings and services.

To be successful, you will hold a BSc (Hon) in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR, be registered with the HCPC, and have at least two years of post‑graduate NHS hospital experience.

In this role, you will be a valued member of our general team, working across areas such as theatre imaging and fluoroscopy. We provide full support for training and development, and you will take part in our busy rotation, including on‑call and seven‑day working rosters.

Our department has a strong teaching culture, with radiographers contributing to the training and mentorship of undergraduate students and preceptees. We are proud to offer an excellent on‑site learning environment and are fully committed to role extension, with radiographers already practicing in areas such as Ultrasound, Barium Swallows, CT Colonoscopies, and plain film reporting.

We are equally dedicated to Advanced Practice, supporting the growth of our teams through close collaboration with our Consultant Radiographer and Consultant Radiologists.

Responsibilities
  • To undertake X‑ray examinations as an operator in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017, under indirect supervision of more senior member of staff.
  • To justify medical exposures using the Department's IR(ME)R Examination Protocols to ensure a safe effective x‑ray service to all patients.
  • To produce a good quality diagnostic image whilst keeping the radiation dose as low as is reasonably practicable.
  • To assess and treat a workload of patients whilst maintaining a high standard of care to all patients and staff.
  • To comply with Trust, Departmental, health and safety and Data protection policies.
  • To maintain at all times patients' privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications

You will hold a BSc (Hon) in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR, be registered with the HCPC, and have at least two years of post‑graduate NHS hospital experience.
