Job description
Diagnostic Radiographer

We’re looking for a flexible, enthusiastic Radiographer to join Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust within the Humber Health Partnership. You will work across our two main X‑ray departments – Hull Royal Infirmary, a major trauma centre, and Castle Hill Hospital, the regional oncology and cardio‑thoracic centre – as well as satellite sites in East Hull, Hornsea, Withernsea, Beverley, and the Community Diagnostic Centre in Hull.

As a Radiographer you will provide high quality diagnostic imaging across a range of specialties, including Emergency Department, Neurosurgery, Oncology and Orthopaedics, working in environments such as Fluoroscopy, General X‑ray, Theatres and Mobile units. You will also take part in our Radiographer Progression programme, which supports development from Band 5 to Band 6 over 24 months.

Main duties of the job
  • Image patients in a variety of clinical settings (ED, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopaedics, etc.).
  • Store and manage images on the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Catalogue and perform quality control checks on imaging equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance and basic troubleshooting of imaging devices.
  • Maintain patient safety, infection control and health & safety compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to improve patient care.
Qualifications
  • DCR or BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography (or equivalent).
  • Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Previous clinical experience, e.g. as a Pre‑Radiographer or Associate Radiographer.
Skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Knowledge of current radiology and health‑service trends and relevant regulations (IRME, IRR 2017, Health & Safety, COSHH).
  • Good organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and PACS familiarity.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective, efficient practice and good patient communication.
  • Strong professional attitude and commitment to continuous learning.
