Job summary

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Diagnostic Radiographers to join our Radiology teams at Ipswich Hospital and Colchester Hospital. We welcome applicants who have qualified in Summer 2026 or who will qualify early 2027, with posts available on permanent and fixed-term contracts.

You will work across ED, Outpatients, In-Patients, Dental, Fluoroscopy and ITU/ward portables, on a seven-day roster including lates, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

• Justify and perform radiographic examinations and provide high quality diagnostic imaging.
• Adhere to Ionising Radiation Regulations (IR(ME)R).
• Undertake continuing professional development (CPD).
• Work as part of a team to deliver care.
• Prioritise workload based on patient condition.
• Maintain accurate patient records and reflect service provided.

Job description

We are looking for Diagnostic Radiographers to join our friendly Radiology teams at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. We are happy to accept applications from those who qualified in Summer 2026 or due to qualify in January / February 2027. We have posts available based at Ipswich Hospital and based at Colchester Hospital (for Colchester this will also encompass our Clacton Community Diagnostic Centre), permanent and fixed term. You will be asked your preference at interview. We are busy radiography departments carrying out a wide range of examinations including ED, Outpatients, In-Patients, Dental, Fluoroscopy (including barium examinations), theatre and ITU / ward portables. You will join departments that support their staff to pursue academic courses and develop their careers within a supportive and friendly environment. We are a teaching department and part of this role will be supporting the learning of our students and apprentices. It is a requirement to undertake a 7 day rostered week, including lates, nights, weekend and bank holidays. • Justify and perform radiographic examinations, provide direct care and a high quality diagnostic imaging service in order to assist in the management of patients referred from clinicians.
• Adhere to Ionising Radiation Regulations and IR(ME)R to ensure the correct procedure is justified and performed.
• Undertake continuing professional development (CPD).
• Work as part of a team to ensure effective communication and delivery of care.
• Prioritise workload depending on the severity of a patient's condition and the direct impact on their management.
• Liaise with fellow healthcare workers and referring clinicians to provide a high quality imaging service to patients.
• Maintain accurate patient records by input of accurate information to reflect the service provided and meet professional standards.
